MESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT
Thank you for the tremendous attendance at the May Social. We registered 112 members from the Alumni and 37 members from Newcomers. The home cooking provided by the ladies at the Polish Hall was delicious and plentiful. The Fashion Show by Chico’s brought all the latest fashions to us and they were beautifully displayed by our volunteer models. The models enjoyed having their makeup applied by the Makeup Artists from Shopper’s Drug Mart. All of those attending the Show went home with a Makeup Gift Bag, compliments of Shopper’s Drug Mart.
On a more serious note, your Executive adopted the following BNAC Policies, at their last meeting. It is similar to policies that have been adopted by other Newcomer and Alumni Clubs in Canada.
BURLINGTON NEWCOMERS ALUMNI CLUB CODE OF CONDUCT
Members of BNAC are expected to conduct themselves with civility at all times. Personal attacks, threats, intimidation and bullying, including but not limited to verbal, email and other social media attacks will not be tolerated.
Matters of this nature are subject to the BNAC POLICY: Discipline of Members.
BNAC POLICY: Discipline of Members:
The Executive Board of Directors shall have authority to suspend or expel any member from Burlington Newcomers Alumni Club for:
• carrying out any conduct which may be detrimental to the BNAC, as determined by the Executive Board of Directors, in its sole discretion;
• for any other reason that the Board, in its sole and absolute discretion, considers to be reasonable, having regard to the purpose of the BNAC.
In the event that the Executive Board of Directors determines that a member should be expelled or suspended from membership in the BNAC, the President, or such other officer as may be designated by the Board, shall provide twenty days notice of suspension or expulsion to the member and shall provide reasons for the proposed suspension or expulsion.
The member may make written submissions to the President, or such other officer as may be designated by the Board, in response to the notice received within such twenty day period.
In the event that no written submissions are received by the President, or such other officer as may be designated by the Executive Board of Directors, may proceed to notify the member that the member is suspended or expelled from membership in the BNAC.
If written submissions are received in accordance with this section, the Executive Board of Directors will consider such submissions in arriving at a final decision and shall notify the member concerning such final decision within a further twenty days from the date of receipt of the submissions.
The Board’s decision shall be final and binding on the member, without any further right of appeal.
